Online courses are a nice way to gain knowledge wherever you are. With the challenges of the constraints of time and the demand of work, many of us find following an online course is the solution to meet our need for Islamic knowledge. Many of our brothers and sisters studied from these websites and gave very positive feedbacks.

Gaining Information and Connections:

  • AlMaghrib Institute: An Islamic organization that offers university-level double weekend courses in various locations around the UK on Islam, which are both fun and contain great content.
  • AlKauthar Institute: AlKauthar provides engaging courses that balance both theoretical and practical approaches to Islamic knowledge in single-weekend university level courses throughout the UK.
  • Emel magazine:The magazine aims to introduce the beautiful aspects of Islam to Muslims and non-Muslims. Emel is for the reader who wishes to combine an ethical outlook to life with evolving ideas and a modern lifestyle.
  • Sisters magazine: The Sisters team is an eclectic group of writers, journalists, artists and readers who are based all over the world. It covers a range of subjects in the areas of Inspiration, Self, Family, Community, World, Homes, Looks, Tastes and a range of reader offers and competitions.
  • Islamic Finder: This is a website where you can get the prayer times for many cities around the world, and it includes a lot of other interesting information to explore and learn from, such as an Islamic calendar, athan software, etc.

  • Islamweb: Another good general website with articles, news, audios, and a Q&A section, which also has a good section for new Muslims: Welcome to Islam
  • ShINE (Sheffield Islamic Network for the Environment) Google group: A Google site for Muslims concerned about the environment.
  • Islamchannel TV: A wide range of live Islamic TV programmes broadcast over the internet or via Skye satellite TV.

Qur'an and Hadith:

  • Quran Explorer and Reciter: These sites have the Qur'an in Arabic + a translation + audio recordings.
  • Quran Flash: This site has the Qur'an in Arabic + translation + transliteration: A nice application to read the Qur'an as in a virtual book. Go to "More Options -> Book Type" to choose the book with translation and transliteration.
  • Compendium of Muslim Texts: A great database for searching for keywords in the Qur'an and the Hadith of Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, and Imam Malik (Muwatta).
